Memorial Day Weekend

We had an action packed weekend yet again. On Friday, we drove to Indianapolis to visit Trevor's old boss and his family, Ron and Jane Evans. We were all awed by our tour of their new church called Traders Point Christian Church. It had its own indoor park full of tubes to climb through, a mini rock climbing wall, and a fenced in area for four-square and basketball. It was super cool. The kids had a great time playing. The church itself is humongous and serves 4000 people each Sunday. It was quite impressive. We were happy to see that the Evan's family is thriving down in Indy. We had a great time catching up with them.

On Saturday, we headed down to Bloomington to spend time with Trevor's family before celebrating his cousin, Brittany's wedding on Sunday afternoon. As usual, we had a great time visiting with Uncle Todd, Aunt Traci, Broderick and Brittany. We were excited to meet Elliott, Brittany's fiancĂ©, now husband. He is a great guy and appears to be a perfect complement to Brittany.

Their wedding was beautiful. It was all outdoors on a farm. The reception was inside a really nice barn. The decorations were perfect. I wish they had pinterest around when we got married. I would have had a blast. Traci had made these huge twine balls out of vines she had found on their property. She filled the balls with white lights and they hung above the dance floor along with the mason jar chandlers they had made. Each person received their own jar of the Schmitz' homemade maple syrup as their little gift. It was the perfect country-themed, outdoor wedding.

Kaylee had a blast dancing the night away with Daddy. We took some time to try and get some good family pictures and were pleased with the results. The weekend was filled with corn hole, swimming, good food, and good company. What more could we ask for?

Visit with Dad and Sue

Whiffle Ball

Kianna's room with her new bookshelf and desk

My dad and Sue spent the weekend with us and we had LOTS of fun. They got to watch Trace's soccer game and even saw him score a goal in the last minute of the game. My dad helped Kaylee with her right-handed lay-ups and played whiffle ball with the Trevor and the kids. I happened upon a dainty brown wooden desk at a garage sale and Sue volunteered to help me paint it white. We spray painted the hardware purple and put it up in Kianna's bedroom. It looks adorable along with the bookshelf that Grandma Becki and Grandpa Bob sent back with Trevor this weekend. Thank you guys so much. It fits perfectly in her room and looks so much classier than the old brown one she had before!

We finished the weekend off last night with a round of Peanuts. It was a great weekend, only to be dampened by Kaylee coming down with the stomach flu in the middle of the night. All good things must come to an end...

Trevor's Week in Iowa

Trevor headed back to Iowa this past week to help his parents out while Sam and Mike were away on their vacation. Bob and Becki are moving out of their house of 35 years into a beautiful four bedroom condo on the 19th. The condo will be less maintenance, so it is a good move for them. Trevor kept busy helping them assemble some of their new furniture, going to doctor visits and anything else that needed to be done. He also managed to squeeze in some time to visit with a few of his friends and to take Bryker out for some special bonding time. He and Bryker went to the new trampoline place in town, went out for Buffalo Wild Wings, and wrapped things up with some Orange Leaf. They had a blast together! He also was able to take his mom out for breakfast on Mother's Day. It was a productive week!!!

Happy Mother's Day

The girls and I continued our annual tradition of going to the Governor's Tea House for a tea party.  Kianna ordered an egg salad sandwich and Kaylee ordered a cucumber mayo sandwich with curry along with a chocolate chip scone and a chocolate mousse tart. They each got their own tea pot filled with apple juice for Kaylee and chocolate hazelnut tea for Kianna. We were able to work on our manners and etiquette a bit. We had a great time together.

Trevor took the kids shopping and they picked out a couple of very pretty hanging baskets for me. They also each made me sweet cards. Kaylee made me baked oatmeal with chocolate chips and bananas. It was the first thing she has baked from scratch. She did a great job. It was very yummy, but I had to laugh because she doubled the amount of chocolate chips the recipe called for. She is definitely my daughter. She loves her sweets!

Chicago 2014

For Trevor's 40th birthday in March, I got him tickets to the Cubs vs Cardinals baseball game in Chicago this past weekend. The gift worked out pretty well for me too, since we both got a weekend away in Chicago without kids. Thanks to our good friends, Ryan and Jamie Johnson, for graciously watching our kids for us. The kids had their own fun and even got to go swimming. We definitely owe them one.

We had a great time walking around and put many miles on our shoes over the weekend. We walked to the cloud gate, to the Buckingham Fountain, to the Navy Pier, to Lake Michigan, and along the Magnificent Mile. In order to dodge some rain we managed to take in two different movies. We had a belated Anniversary dinner at a Brazilian Barbeque called Brazzaz. It is a meat lovers dream with 18 different cuts of meat and has a great salad bar. We also had some yummy thai food, cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory, and Garret's popcorn.

We had fabulous weather for the Cubs game and they even won 3-0. We had great seats near the 3rd base dugout. We almost caught a foul ball which ended up going to the lady behind me. We had an amazing time in Chicago. I love my hubby!!!
