Our little "Nerd"

We invited the Miller's over for dinner, games, and fun times. Kaylee's friend, Davis, showed up with a new chapter book he is reading. Kaylee soon ran and got the chapter book she has been working on and this is what we discovered that evening. Not quite what we were expecting from our 6 year olds, but adorable nonetheless. Obviously they are proud of their reading progress and so are we!!!

Guess what Trace Learned to do?

Pedal forwards on his tricycle! He has been trying to figure out how to pedal for awhile now. All winter he practiced on his stationary giraffe bike indoors and ended up learning how to pedal backwards. This Spring, he began practicing outdoors and little by little was learning to pedal forwards. However, the real breakthrough came this morning when I took the kids to The Centre to ride their bikes around the path outdoors. It was the first time bringing his little bike with us. So it surprised me when he sat down and road nearly 1 mile on his little pink and purple tricycle. We were so excited with his accomplishment that we had to stop by Daddy's office to tell him what Trace learned to do. When Daddy came home from work tonight he surprised Trace with a new Hotwheels Big Wheel "Boy" bike. Trace was pretty happy with his new bike and all the fun sounds it makes. However, his legs aren't quite long enough to reach the pedals, so until he grows a little he'll keep practicing on his "other" bike. Way to go Trace!

Kaylee's Kindergarten Graduation

Kaylee's year ended with a graduation ceremony. The kids sang a few songs and performed a little skit. Kaylee had a few lines to memorize, which she did a great job remembering. Each child in Kaylee's class was awarded with a character quality their teacher had observed throughout the year. Kaylee was awarded with "Joy", which was defined as being happy both inside and out. She is a happy little girl and we are very proud of her! She also received her first trophy during her ceremony. She earned it by memorizing her scripture verses each month throughout the school year. She was pretty excited to get her trophy!

It is so hard to believe that our little girl has officially graduated from Kindergarten and will be in 1st Grade this Fall. Is it even possible? Kaylee had such a great year in Kindergarten and learned so much. She is an excellent reader and is now reading chapter books on her own! Let the summer begin...

Pre-K Picnic

We were blessed with some amazing weather for Kianna's end of the year picnic. We all had a great time. Kianna loved jumping in the bouncy house with her friends and getting her face painted. Kaylee loved helping the teacher keep track of how long people could be in the bouncy house (she loves to help). Trace loved playing in the sand. He even snuck in a few tastes...What a fun day.

Kianna's Last Day of Pre-K

Kianna's class showed off a few of the things they have learned this past year during their program. They sang a few songs, my favorite being "I Just Wanna Be a Sheep". You could tell Kianna loved this song too, as she was all about doing the motions. It was super cute! The kids each were awarded with a character quality, Kianna's being "Generosity". It was so appropriate. She is such a giving little girl. She loves to give her brother, sister, and friends "prizes" when they do something well or just because she enjoys giving gifts. Mrs. Potter couldn't have awarded Kianna with a more appropriate character quality. Good job Kianna, Mommy and Daddy are proud of you!!!

Weekend with The Cooks and The Langfalds

We spent a fun-filled weekend with Grandma Becki, Grandpa Bob, Aunt Sam, and Bryker. They arrived Thursday afternoon and believe it or not we were able to swim in our pool for the first time this year. What beautiful weather we had; it was hot, humid, and in the 80's. We all had a great time. Friday, we spend the day at The Toledo Zoo. It was fun seeing how excited Trace was to watch the animals, especially the seals. He kept running back and forth to get a better look at them. It was adorable! Saturday, we watched LCS' performance of "The Wizard of Oz", which was quite impressive. I have to admit the plays are even more fun to watch now that we know some of the kids. They are a talented bunch of kids. The only bad thing was that Kaylee began feeling sick during the show. When we got home her temperature was 102.7 degrees. Poor girl. Since she was sick I stayed home, while the other adults had a special meal at The Melting Pot in Toledo. It was Bob and Becki's first time there and they LOVED it. Yummy! I'm definitely taking a raincheck on that meal!!! Another fun weekend with family, come again soon...

Happy Mother's Day

My day was made special by the beautiful smiles on Kaylee and Kianna's faces as they surprised me with a table full of cards and special things they had made me at school the previous week. In addition, they helped Daddy prepare breakfast for me. On the menu were Daddy's gourmet scrambled eggs, grapefruit, and toast. What a special time!

Happy Mother's Day to our wonderful moms. We love you!

Trace's New Bike

He thinks he is hot stuff and is all smiles on his new set of wheels. He even says "turbo boost" to make Daddy go faster. What a cutie!!!
