Hip Dysplasia

My hips have been hurting me off and on since college. Due to a recent flare up and after some physical therapy I was referred to an orthopedist, Dr. Matthew Harris. He took x-rays and later a MRI. Both hips hurt, but we decided to focus on my right one, since it's the one that hurts the worst. The x-ray revealed hip dysplasia in both hips and PLICA impingement. Hip dysplasia is congenital and means that I was born with both hips not fully in my sockets. It has gone undiagnosed all these years and as a result I have some impingement and a small labral tear, which the MRI later revealed. Unfortunately, there isn't much to be done besides strengthening my hips. The doctor recommends pilates based therapy and swimming. He wants me to especially strengthen my hip flexors and to avoid running, tennis and pickle ball. Basically, it stinks getting old...
