Food Trucks

I've been wanting to eat at the food trucks since we moved to Jupiter. We finally made it to Food Truck Wednesday at Marcinski Park. We were introduced to Poke Bowls, sushi in a bowl. They are so yummy!

Bella's Graduation

Bella completed 6 weeks of puppy training. She can now sit, stay and lie down on command. She is still highly distractible. She is not fully potty trained but does use the bell when she wants to go outside. She adores Rizzo and goes wherever he goes. We love our little cutie!

Hip Dysplasia

My hips have been hurting me off and on since college. Due to a recent flare up and after some physical therapy I was referred to an orthopedist, Dr. Matthew Harris. He took x-rays and later a MRI. Both hips hurt, but we decided to focus on my right one, since it's the one that hurts the worst. The x-ray revealed hip dysplasia in both hips and PLICA impingement. Hip dysplasia is congenital and means that I was born with both hips not fully in my sockets. It has gone undiagnosed all these years and as a result I have some impingement and a small labral tear, which the MRI later revealed. Unfortunately, there isn't much to be done besides strengthening my hips. The doctor recommends pilates based therapy and swimming. He wants me to especially strengthen my hip flexors and to avoid running, tennis and pickle ball. Basically, it stinks getting old...

Keri's 42nd Birthday

My 42nd birthday was also the kids' first day of school. As a result, my day was a bit of a blur. To celebrate my special day, the kids and I tried out a new Thai restaurant. Our meal was delicious! For dessert, we went back home and had a yummy piece of triple layered chocolate mocha cake. Trevor was on travel, so we celebrated together over the weekend by trying Michael Jordan's restaurant, 1000 North. My favorite part of our meal was my "free" mango key lime pie. It was delicious!!!! We capped off the night with a walk along the beach. I'm blessed!

Kianna's 13th Birthday

Our little girl is now a teenager!!! In honor of this momentous occasion, she received a cell phone. She was thrilled!!! Here's a little bit about our teenager:

  • Cross Country- This summer Kianna has been busy training for cross country. She has been running approximately 5 miles and has found that she really enjoys it. She's looking forward to her upcoming JCS season.
  • Soccer- Kianna switched clubs this fall from Jupiter United to Rise FC. Half of her Jupiter United team switched as well. She loves her team, although they don't win very often. Kianna's an offensive player and has improved quite a bit over the past year. She even scores an occasional goal now and then.
  • Basketball- Kianna is a natural when it comes to her basketball skills. She has a nice shot and likes to steal the ball. She plays for the JCS middle school team.
  • School- Kianna's favorite subjects are math and science. She has become very responsible when it comes to school and gets all A's and B's. She currently wants to be a vetrinarian or marine biologist when she grows up.
  • Fish- She loves fish, that is pet fish. She gave up eating fish for about a year due to her love of fish. We called her a land-o-tarian. She has a beautiful beta fish that she got recently, as well as, a fish tank full of other fish and snails, she adores. They all have very creative names like Harry, Hermione, Ron, Fred, George, etc., She does a great job of cleaning out her fish tanks and caring for them.
  • Bedroom- Kianna loves her bedroom and spending time in there. We're not exactly sure what she does in her room? She seems to always be cleaning her room however, it never is clean and always seem to be a mess...
  • Friends- Kianna spent a lot of time with Sydney Cariero this summer at cross country practices.  She also spends a lot of time with Jordin Courtemache her friend from school and our neighborhood. She has become friends with the other 7th graders from church: Avery Plourde, Kate Butters, Grace Freeman, and Samantha Wolfe. At school she was good friends with Jessica Baklayan, but they lost touch over the summer.
  • Creative- Kianna is super creative and always has been. She often does things differently than others, but they turn out well and uniquely. She has a knack for decorating.
  • Jesus- Kianna loves Jesus. She is faithful with her devotions and has a good heart. She enjoys going to youth group and has made some good friends at church over the last year.
  • Strong Willed- Kianna is extremely strong willed. We butt heads with her quite frequently. Trevor says she'll rule the world someday, we hope for good...Oh and she loves to win and often fights with her brother over the rules of games when they try to play together...
To celebrate her birthday, Kianna invited Jordin, Kate, Avery, Samantha and Grace over to our house for chicken and broccoli fettuccine alfredo, caesar salad and buster bar. We decided to let the girls eat without silverware or napkins just for fun. When we presented the idea to the girls, they said "that's fine, we eat with our fingers anyway".

Trevor created a fun neighborhood scavenger hunt for the girls to complete. Afterwards, they came back to the house and swam. It was a fun party!

The whole idea of separate trips began when Trevor decided to take Trace on a soccer trip to Scotland with Jupiter United. I didn't want to go to Scotland, so decided to plan a trip for the girls and I. Well, the soccer trip fell through, but the girls and I had already committed to going to NYC with our friends. So, Trevor came up with Plan B, which was going to San Diego with Trace to watch his cousin graduate from the Navy. The boys flew to San Diego, while we drove to NYC. Part of the joy of driving is that we gained some new states along the way. We also made some fun stops to break up the 22 hour drive. Our first stop being to Jamestown, Virginia, where we spent two nights.

We toured historic Jamestown, which we learned is the oldest English colony. We learned about Pocahontas, John Smith and the early settlers. It was very interesting. We also walked around Colonial Williamsburg, had a nice meal and watched some of "Mama Mia" at the outdoor showing.

The following morning we got up early to make it into NYC at a decent time. We drove around the border of Washington DC and got to see the Capital building from a distance, which was kind of fun. Once in NYC, we drove straight to a parking garage and ditched our car for the week. We then walked a couple blocks to our nearby hotel, The London NYC. It was located in Midtown on West 54th Street within walking distance to Central Park, Times Square, Rockfeller Center, and the subway station. It was one of the nicest hotels we've stayed in.

Highlights of our trip include:
  • Eating yummy desserts at Carlos Bakery in Hoboken, NJ.
  • Riding the subway and getting lost...
  • Double Decker Bus Tour- We had a two day pass that included a night tour to see the Brooklyn Bridge, so I believe we heard the tour guides speech three times by the end.
  • Walking and exploring different neighborhoods such as Upper West Side, Upper East Side, Greenwich Village, Soho, Chinatown, Little Italy, Midtown and the Theater District.
  • 9/11 Museum and Memorial- Powerful museum filled with remnants from that dreadful day. There was a room filled with pictures of everyone who was killed that day. We were able to click on their pictures to learn more their story and what led them to the World Trade Center, the Pentagon or onto one of the planes that day. Sad and very memorable experience.
  • Bubble Tea and Chinese Food in Chinatown
  • Getting pictures taken with Bailey Madison
  • Getting dressed up and watching Wicked on Broadway
  • Our two hour bike ride through Central Park
  • Amazing burgers and sundaes at the Black Tap Restaurant
  • Seeing Gum Gum and Rexy at the American Museum of Natural History
  • Our tea party at Alice's Tea Cup
  • Italian food in Little Italy
  • Ferry ride to the Statue of Liberty- We went into the brains of Lady Liberty.
  • Eating NY style cheesecake and pizza in NY
  • Doing face masks in our hotel room
Our time in NYC was amazing!!!

On the way back to Florida, we stopped at Thomas Jefferson's home, Monticello. We spent a couple hours there touring his home, his land, and learning about slavery on his plantation.

We also had an amazing meal in Savannah, Georgia before completing our drive to FL. Our girls trip was fantastic girls, although we are excited to see our boys and dogs again!!!

Boys Trip to San Diego

Midway

La Jolla

Broderick

"O" course

While the girls were in NYC, the boys flew to San Diego, California for the week. The trip was motivated by an invitation to attend Broderick's graduation from the Navy. They were honored to be invited to the ceremony and thrilled to be able to attend.

Highlights of their trip include:

  • Seeing Broderick was a definite highlight.
  • Big breakfasts, especially biscuits and gravy.
  • Trace gaming during his free time at the hotel.
  • Exploring the Midway where Top Gun was filmed.
  • Padres vs Orioles Baseball game
  • Lego Land-well actually it was pretty lame, but at least we can say we've been there.
  • San Diego Zoo- Very cool, but unfortunately Trace got sick and they had to leave early.
  • Seeing all the seals and sea lions at La Jolla. So cool!
  • Getting to see Uncle Todd, Aunt Traci, Britney and Elliot
  • Watching Broderick graduate from the Navy and getting to try the "O" course. Man are those obstacles tough!
  • Jumping off the catamaran with Broderick and his friends. So fun!!!
The boys had an awesome trip, but also were ready to return to see their ladies and dogs.
