We distracted ourselves with a Kernels' game and time away with family. |
Snow cones are also a good distraction |

Birthday Buddies- We also celebrated Matthew's and my birthdays as well. |
Ecclesiastes 3:1-14 says:
"1 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: 2 a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, 3 a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, 4 a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, 5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain, 6 a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, 7 a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, 8 a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace."
We spent a lot of time mourning and preparing for the funeral while we were back in Iowa. Honestly, a part of us has been mourning since April when we learned that Bob's cancer was back and that things didn't look good. Since then we have often felt guilty for having fun and laughing, given the circumstances. However, as the scripture says there is a time for everything.
Kianna takes a lot of joy in the timing of her birthday. I told her that when she was born 8 years ago Grandpa Bob was struggling with a very aggressive form of his Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. He received a stem-cell transplant. We were all very scared that he would die and then Kianna was born. She brought us joy in a difficult time. Well this year the same thing happened. As we mourn the loss of a dad, a grandpa and a father-in-law; we again celebrate the life of Kianna. Again she brings us joy in a difficult time.
We went to the new trampoline park, Air FX, to celebrate her birthday. Aunt Sam and her family went, as did Grandma Becki, Grandma Sue and Grandpa Wayne. We had a great time jumping, playing dodge ball, dunking a basketball, jumping into foam pits, doing flips, and walking on slack lines. We followed that up by ordering Taco pizza and Chicago Style pizza from Zoey's. It was a fun time followed of course by dessert and presents. We celebrated her birthday again the following day at Aunt Bree's house with the rest of Keri's family. We ordered pizza and roasted marshmallows for smore's. I am thankful for distractions and that there is a time for everything; especially a time to laugh!
