Islamorado

Trevor and I spent a relaxing few days in Islamorado. We slept in, I did yoga on the lawn several times, we went out to breakfast, relaxed in the pool, napped in the afternoons, went out for yummy dinners on the water, and cruised in the convertible to watch the sunset each night. It was a great time spent with my love.

Keri's 45th Birthday

My birthday festivities began on Saturday with a dinner date with Stacie and Patrick at The Riverhouse. We had a great time with lots of laughs. On Sunday, we went to the Family Church Gardens campus for the first time. Kianna's been wanting to switch campuses since making new friends on the mission trip. It's so much bigger than the Jupiter campus and it was fun bumping into Britton and Brian McPherson. Britton was so sweet and helped us get Kianna and Trace settled into their classes as the youth group meets during the 10 am service. The kids loved it, as there are so many more kids and it's divided into Middle School and High School. Kaylee will have to check it out next week, as she served at the Jupiter campus today.

After church, we went out to breakfast and then Trevor and I headed to the beach for the afternoon. Kianna made us poke bowls for dinner and Kaylee made me a chocolate cake topped with chocolate dipped strawberries. I also got some flowers, cards and a few gifts from the kids. Trevor planned a weekend away for the two of us to Islamarado, which we are looking forward to next weekend. I love my family. God is good!

Upstairs Renovations

We ripped out all the carpet in the upstairs and gutted all our bathrooms. The end result is beautiful!

Kianna's 16th Birthday

Happy 16th Birthday to our Nana Bear. Unfortunately, she had to attend school on her birthday, but as soon as the school day was over I took her to the DMV for her driving test, which she passed on her first try.  She excitedly drove to her birthday dinner at Hokkaido Hibachi & Sushi, where we celebrated with Aunt Stacie and Uncle Patrick. After our yummy dinner, she drove Trace to soccer practice and then home for her first solo drive. After Trace returned we celebrated with some homemade crème brûlée, which she got a taste for on our cruise.

Kianna had her friend party the next night. She invited Calleigh Stebbins and Olivia Reid from the mission trip and Rylie from school. They are all very nice girls. I'm thankful that she has chosen such nice friends. We took the girls to Lindburgers for dinner and then they went miniature golfing. Once home, we celebrated some more with homemade brownie hot fudge sundaes. The fun continued with a sleepover and some karaoke and Just Dance.

Here's some facts about Kianna:
  • Lizard Mommy- Wants to be an exotic pet veterinarian. She continues to take excellent care of Rex, Squash and Leo. She's a proud lizard mommy.
  • Creative Cook- she often comes up with some amazing creations in the kitchen. Most are full of garlic and butter, definitely not a healthy chef, but tasty for sure.
  • Favorite foods- sushi, garlic, ramen, Mac and cheese, sour cream, ranch, crème brûlée, Starbucks, and boba tea.
  • Faith- strong faith in God. Mission trip made a big impact on her and blessed her with new friendships. Not perfect, but makes good choices when they matter.
  • Sports- gave up soccer, plans to continue with basketball.
  • Strong-willed- Doesn't take "no" for an answer. Very determined. The ultimate debater.
  • Nails- enjoys doing her nails whether they be dipped or gel nails. She has also gotten paid a few times to do her friends' nails. She's quite good.
  • Bedroom- She loves spending time in her room. She's a girl who needs some alone time and she gets that in her room. In her room, she can be found watching Netflix, listening to audiobooks or napping. She got a new bed for her birthday and is so excited not to have to climb up onto the loft anymore.
  • Firecracker- Very strong emotions. Impulsive. Loves to spend money. Laughs loudly. Amazing voice. Great hugs.

We love you Nana Bear! You've matured a lot over the last year and we're proud of the young woman you are becoming.

First Day of School

Kaylee's in 12th grade at Jupiter High School. She is taking three classes at JHS (Ceramics, AP Government, and AP Statistics) and two duel enrollment classes (Speech and Spanish) at Palm Beach State College. She gets out of school at 10:30 am and then has been working the 12-4 pm shift at Bolay a few days a week. She's growing up! It's crazy we have a senior. There will be lots of "lasts" this year. Not sure I'm ready for this, but she is!

Kianna's in 10th grade at Jupiter High School. She's in her second year of the JERSA academy. She has a very tough class load this year with three science classes (Biology, Chemistry and Environmental Science), Algebra II, International History, AICE English and Theater.

Trace's in 8th grade at Jupiter Middle School. He's still in the technology academy. He had no homework in 7th grade, we're hoping 8th grade will be a little more challenging for him. He'll be our first kid to complete all the grades available at one school. Sad I know. Our kids have been so resilient. Praying for a great school year for all three kids!

Shark Wake Park

Trace and I had some one-on-one time at Shark Wake Park in West Palm. It was our first time there and was quite the unique experience. We did the wakeboarding cable experience, which meant that instead of having a boat pull us around the lake there was a cable that connected to the handlebar we were holding. It pulled us up and potentially around the lake. Trace and I both got up on our feet quickly, but struggled to make the turn around the corner. Trace made the turn once, but I failed repeatedly. It was really challenging to make the turn as the cable would slow down and then pull you really fast all of a sudden. The change of speed made us face plant, me more than Trace. In fact, I believe I had a concussion from my final fall despite my helmet. I opened my eyes and saw bright white spots in the middle of everything, similar to what I imagine macular degeneration being. I also couldn't see the left side of everything. Thankfully my vision returned within 20-30 minutes.

While I was recovering, Trace went on the obstacle courses which he said was a lot of fun. On the drive home, my bottom lip went numb for a few minutes, which also was concerning. I debated going to the ER as I continued to be nauseous the rest of the night, but thankfully my other symptoms resolved. Despite the concussion, I enjoyed some much needed time with Trace. He's a great kid and I love him dearly. Trevor says I'm not as young as I think I am anymore, getting older stinks!
