New Years Eve

We invited The Malone family over to bring in the New Year with us. Kianna and their daughter, Rebekah, have become good friends. They're enjoying being on the same basketball team. We decided we'd like to get to know her family better. We had a fun night getting to know them all better.

Rex's Escape

We had a little scare this morning. Kianna decided to make Rex a little playpen for the backyard. However, to her horror, he escaped and ran straight for the bamboo trees. She searched frantically for him, for what seemed like forever, but in reality was only a few minutes. Thankfully, Rex stayed put, once he made it to the trees and Kianna found him. Phew. Crisis adverted.

Christmas Day

We started the day with monkey bread and singing "Happy Birthday Jesus". We had fun exchanging gifts. Trace ended up with a new BMX bike and helmet. We gifted ourselves with a turfed backyard. We love how it turned out. Stacie went back to Iowa for Christmas, but Matthew and Patrick stayed home. We enjoyed having them over for a yummy lunch and enjoyed playing our new "Air Draw" game. We laughed a lot and had a fun day.

Christmas Eve

We all agree that Christmas Eve with the Langfald's and Grandma Becki is one of our favorite days of the year. In attempt to make the best of the night, we made our own appetizers and played online games via the House Party App. It was actually pretty great, how it all worked out. We spent it together, one way or another...

Injured

This year, I watched "The Nativity Story" a little differently. Injured that is. I volunteered to be the JCS Assistant Varsity Basketball coach. At my practice debut, I went up for a 3 pointer, during our scrimmage and felt a "pop". I went down and haven't been able to put any weight through it. I'm suspecting a plantar fascia rupture. Ouch!!!

Sea World

We were supposed to fly back to Iowa for Christmas. However, due to the rise in COVID cases, our parents were uncomfortable with us coming back, so we decided to stay put. In an attempt to lighten the blow, we surprised the kids with a trip to Sea World. The last time we were there as a family was when I was pregnant with Trace, so it had been awhile. We enjoyed he dolphin and killer whale shows. We thoroughly enjoyed seeing the penguins. The kids were excited to ride a couple roller coasters. It was all decked out at night, which was very pretty. We then surprised the kids by going to City Walk and hitting some of our favorite spots before heading back home. This year will be the first time for all of us, not going back to Iowa for Christmas. Things will look a little different, but we're trying to make the best of it.

Christmas PJs and Gingerbread Cookies

I made the family do matching Christmas pajamas and you can tell by the look on their faces that they were thrilled. We attempted Gingerbread Houses from scratch and they failed. Thankfully, we also made Gingerbread men and they were delicious.

Snowball Fight

Since moving to Florida, we have started doing marshmallow fights, since we can't have a snowball fight.  This year we invited some friends to join us. So much fun!!!

Rex

Kianna continues to love animals and has been begging for a new pet. We caved and ended up with Rex, a bearded dragon. She's very excited to have him as her very own.

Christmas Baking

Kaylee informed me that no Christmas is complete without making our candy. We decided to invite our friends, Lauren, Marianna and Faby to join in on the fun. Being from Nicaragua, it was a first for them.
