Shoe Fetish

Our little guy recently discovered the shoe bins. We now find him digging through his sisters and his shoes trying to cram them onto his feet. This keeps him entertained for a really long time, so I haven't discovered the practice. It seems the easiest pair for him to get on are Kianna's church shoes...

Chuck and Lynette's Visit

We had a nice visit with Trevor's cousin, Lynette, and her husband, Chuck, when they dropped by Sunday afternoon and spent the night with us. They were in Michigan for a friend's wedding and decided to take some time to spend with our family. We had a great time showing them around The Center and LCS, visiting with them, and lounging by the pool. We like visitors! Thanks for taking the time to come see us.

The Big Reveal

For the last 4 1/2 months we have been busy painting multiple bedrooms, replacing carpet, installing tile throughout the main level, getting new appliances, removing a wall so we could get our leather couch into the house and out of the garage, hanging pictures, and just getting settled. We are finally ready for the big reveal.

Father's Day Weekend

We don't have any pictures to show for it, but we had a great weekend. Saturday, we headed to Kalamazoo, MI to watch my nephew, Matthew play in a soccer tournament. We were pretty excited that he was playing so close to us, since he was playing on a team out of Cedar Rapids. My other nephew, Andrew, drove back to Adrian with us and spent the night. My sister, Stacie, and brother-in-law, Patrick drove to Adrian the following day after the tournament was over and Matthew's team had taken home 1st place trophies. We had a nice Father's Day meal (steak and sweet potato fries), enjoyed the pool, good conversation, and a chick flick. It was a fun night. They left the next morning to continue on their way to NYC and then to Boston for vacation. We are excited to see them again in a couple weeks on their way back to Iowa!

One not so great thing happened to us on our way to church Sunday morning. We had yet to have our garage cleaned out enough to fit both cars inside. So, we had been parking at least one car in our driveway. You might be able to guess what happened. We accidentally (by "we" I mean Trevor) backed our van into our Accord. We haven't had the cars appraised yet, but the damage is easy to see. It was an unfortunate start to our day, but we made the best of it. I am happy to say that our garage is now cleaned out. Nothing like a little accident to get you motivated!

We missed seeing our own father's this Father's Day but enjoyed chatting with them on the phone. We love you all and miss you!

Strawberry Patch

Friday morning, the kids and I went with our new playgroup to pick strawberries for the first time. Our good friends Nellie, Davis, and Carter joined us too. We all had a great time, especially Trace. He loves strawberries and ate them the entire time. He had fun picking them off the plants and stealing some of Nellie's freshly picked strawberries. His shirt was red by the end and he even sat down on some strawberries causing his caboose to be red as well. For all of you who know what a clean freak I am, I must admit that the strawberry juice running down his arms and face onto his once clean clothes was a big stretch for me. But hey, I decided to let him make a mess and go with it. I'm glad that I did. I am also happy to report that all the strawberry stains came out of his clothes, so no harm done. The girls had fun picking strawberries too. Kianna kept asking, "Mommy, can I have just one more strawberry?" To which I repeatedly replied "sure". It was pretty cute.

Fun Weekend

On Friday, we got a sitter for the kids and Trevor and I went out with our friends, Aaron and Nellie. We went out to dinner and then bowled. My first time down the lane, I took my ball and rolled it and in the process slipped on the freshly waxed floor. I somehow managed to do the splits with one foot in my lane and my other foot in the adjacent lane. It was super embarrassing, but worth quite a few laughs as you might imagine...

On Saturday, we invited some friends, Terry and Laurie and their boys, over for dinner and a pool party. We had a great time getting to know them and their kids better. While we were busy entertaining our friends, Kaylee attended her first birthday party here in Michigan. Her friend, Ella, from school turned six and celebrated with a fairy party. Kaylee had a blast and came home with her face elaborately painted and decked out as a beautiful fairy. She came home and immediately got into the pool to swim, so unfortunately I didn't get a picture of her face painted, but I did get a cute one of Trace giving her a hug the next morning.

On Sunday evening, we were introduced to our new small group. There are two other families that we met. We had a nice time eating and getting to know them while our kids all played at the park. Unfortunately, the mosquitos were horrible so despite being sprayed down with bug spray Kaylee and Kianna came away looking like they lost a terrible battle. They both swell up really bad and between them they have at least 10 bug bites. Poor girls. Kaylee swatted a bug on her leg today and was quite proud. Hopefully the girls will win future battles...

Slip-N-Slide

I took the girls shopping last week so they could spend some of their allowance. Kaylee bought several coloring books and Kianna bought a slip-n-slide. The girls had fun this weekend learning how to use the slip-n-slide. Honestly, it was quite comical trying to teach them how to slide on their bellies. Kianna wanted to run across the slide on her feet, which got her a bonk on her noggin. Kaylee kept trying to slide on her tummy but slid on her knees instead. She started getting the hang of it after quite a few tries. I ended up dragging Kianna across the slide so she would go fast enough. The girls had a lot of fun and I had quite a few laughs.

Dress Up Time

With two sisters it is inevitable that at some point the girls would want to dress their baby brother up. So here are some pictures to show the big reveal and just for fun some pictures of the girls in the same costume when they were Trace's age. Can you tell them apart?
