Have you ever had one of those days that just didn't turn out like you expected it would? Well today has been one of those days for me. I have been excited all summer for Kaylee to start preschool. Not because I want her out of the house, but because I know she will love her new school and am excited for her to learn and make new friends. Kaylee too has been super excited all summer to start school. Last night was her orientation. She got all dressed up and was ready to go by 7:30 AM even though it didn't start until 6:00 PM. She also, had her outfit for today picked out since about noon yesterday. Needless to say, she was excited to start school and meet her teachers and make some new friends. So how does our day begin you might ask?? It begins at 7:00 AM with Kaylee fully dressed in her new outfit stomping into my bathroom to find me. With some major attitude she says "Mom, I told you I need a S (small) on my shirt and not a M (medium). This shirt is as long as my skirt!" I ignored the attitude and tucked her shirt into her skirt and the problem was solved! This situation was followed by an argument from Kaylee regarding when her bed was going to be made. She decided that she didn't want to make her bed until after her nap at 3:00 PM. I told her that was too late and to make it before going to school. She proceeded to throw a fit and stomped off to her bedroom. I'm not even sure why this was an issue today as she usually makes her bed before ever coming into our room in the morning. However, today everything seemed to be an issue! As if I wasn't irritated enough by my daughter at this point, she then refused to share a necklace with Kianna for absolutely no reason. That was my breaking point. I picked her up and carried her into her room and told her she had to stay there until it was time to leave for school, which ended up being 30 minutes. In between dealing with Kaylee's grumpy attitude, Kianna was throwing her own fits over silly things. Ahhhhh, calgone take me away!
Once we finally made it to school our morning went much better. Kaylee had a good time at school and kept pretty busy with her art project, tracing lines, snack time, and play time outdoors. She reported that she likes both of her new teachers and had fun playing with her friends, Chloe and Lily, who she already knows from church. After this morning, I'm a little nervous about those teenage years, can you imagine what she will be like if this is already happening at 4 years of age????
